When I saw the news about a teenager winning 60 grand for texting and the news that they plan to ban phones while driving I had to write this.
Do you remember when we had black and white televisions and programs only till 11 pm – now it is in color and 24 hours.
Do you remember when we had to write a letter and waited for the postman to receive one – now we type an email and mostly what the postman delivers is bills and junk mail.
Do you remember when you had to use the operator to make a long distance phone call and you and you had a rotary phone now you just have to press buttons – actually you dont even have to talk cause you can type.
Do you remember when all shops shut down in the evening and on sundays – now everything is open 24 hours.
Do you remember when they had stick shift in the cars – now it is mostly automatic.
Do you remember when you had to let someone know any news urgently – you sent a telegram – now you call even if you are in another room.
Do you remember when we had to type on a typewriter – now we do the writing on a computer.
Do you remember when you traveled by air – you dressed up – now you wear what is the most comfortable and easy to take off.
Do you remember when you had to book a ticket by train or plane you had to stand in line – now you just use the internet.
Do you remember when you had to heat up your food on the stove – now you have the microwave.
Do you remember when you went outside and played with your friends – now you play the Wii sports by yourself if you want.
Do you remember that if you wanted to talk to someone while driving – you had to wait until you saw them – now you just call them on your cell phone or text them.
